Soak Yourself in Rice When Stressed

The title got you here didn't it? Glad that worked. Well if I am going to be very honest with you. I am always stressed.  In fact, if you were to open the Oxford English Dictionary and search for the word "Stressed", you will find a black and white illustration of me crying over my laptop. Some of you who know me personally may not be convinced by this declaration of stress because according to most of my friends I am chill, calm or unbothered.
 That is not me being chilled, that is the numbness followed by the overbearing amount of stress that has emptied me down to an empty husk which is void of all emotion. Ahaha...that got dark really quickly. My point is I know a few things about being stressed and I also know a few things about not being stressed(?) That could have been worded more eloquently, but that has never been my style.

Stress isn't great right? It causes weight gain/loss and acne which is already something I am at war with, without the added complication. So I am going to share with you the most honest and actually effective way to de-stress without having to look for extra dessert. (ahah did you see what I did there?).

So the first step is to give yourself a break ma! Sis, what is you doing?  Why are you being so hard on yourself? It's 12 am you've been looking at this essay for hours, what you need is sleep okay? You need to rest. You can't make a deadline if you well are well...finished. (How can you be finished before the assignment? tragic.)  Think to yourself will this actually matter in a years time? If you are honest with yourself, no it won't  Even if it truly mattered life is about learning and making mistakes. People do not start off as finely cut diamonds, we start as lumps of coal. Earthly pressures mould us and we press through. When diamonds become diamonds no one ever looks at their ring and says: "urgh remember when this diamond was a coal". Okay, I can see how that went off on a tangent there, but you guys get where I am going with, right?

When I am stressed I do two things... I overeat or I stop eating altogether. GCSE me was so stressed that I had to be taken to the doctors because I was losing an unhealthy amount of weight fast. Instead of starving yourself or reaching for a bar chocolate plan your meals in advance in times of stress, so you're still looking after yourselves. Stress is a very mental thing but can manifest into something visible and physical.

Sleep! Make sure you get enough sleep girl(or boy)! Catch them Zs you know what I am sayin? You know how people nap and they feel better when they wake up? Well sleeping for 7-8 hours at night does the same thing, but like 1000% better trust me I know what I am saying. Also, ditch the caffeine, it can make the problem worse, it also increases your blood pressure which is like further associated with stress. Relax and sip a cup of Chamomile or Lavender tea, so much better and sweeter actually. If you must have your caffeine fix try and limit to one cup a day. Sex is great but so is your sanity am I right?

Okay, one last thing take a deep breath in. Hey, I saw that! Don't roll your eyes at me. When people used to tell me to take a deep breathe in. I wanted to make sure that they would never breathe again. There is nothing worse than telling someone that you ain't good, for them to turn around and tell you to calm down and take a deep breathe in. Thanks, Vanessa I totally don't want to pull out my hair, follicle by follicle now, that therapist was waste of my money, I am saved. However, it does help, actually ten help, ten in and outs. I should have made that clearer. No seriously try it, it feels good.

If all else fails then:
1) find an abyss
2) Scream into  it

No, but on a serious note, stress is good in moderation. Stress helps us do well in exams, it's the reason we work hard, its a sort of motivation. My Psychology teacher used to tell me if you aren't stressed for the exam then you're more likely to fail. Stress can quickly become overwhelming, if you find yourself in that situation, switch off and then turn back on, like you would do with a glitchy phone. (I don't recommend that you soak yourself in rice though, that won't help anybody).

In conclusion, don't listen to my ill  inspired title, do not Soak yourself in rice when stressed... unless you're into that type of stuff. We are after all a judge free zone. That's all from me and my bad puns! (There is no PUNch Line here, okay I'll stop I am sure some of you want to PUNch me in the face)
